1. Parentheses and exponents come before multiplication, including multiplying by -1 like in (e).

2. One is -1(3)^{2}, and the other is (-1 × 3)^{2}.

3. You can copy these from the “Solving Equations” Math 2 slide.

4. Make sure not to write anything on a separate line without an equals sign, such as “– 3” or “× 3”.

5. (a) and (b) are exactly the same, except (b) must be reduced and (a) can be reduced or not.
